Our Story
In April 2016, Tokyo Street Restaurant was started by a married couple who moved to Finland. They are both coming from different backgrounds; however, they are both passionate about healthy eating and benefits of healthy cooking. With having visited local restaurants, they realized that it’s extremely difficult to find quality food, prepared with quality ingredients and that price /quality ratio is very poor. And then they noticed that there was a vacant space available in Hietalahti market hall and decided to open a small Japanese restaurant with very different concept: Cooking from scratch with organic ingredients wherever possible and/or with the highest quality ingredients available on the market.
This has become our concept; to introduce authentic high-quality Japanese street food.
In 2022, Tokyo Street is starting over with a new owner, Kenji Yano.
Tokyo Street was already a great restaurant for the locals before the new owners took over, so he is focused on preserving the restaurant and the trust of its customers. This means using organic ingredients whenever possible, and handcrafting food from scratch with the highest quality ingredients. In addition, he is committed to improving service in order to meet the detailed needs of customers.
He also pays attention to the satisfaction of the restaurant’s employees. This is because he believes that employee satisfaction in the workplace leads to better service to customers. He aims to improve the overall service of the restaurant by taking into consideration not only the customers who come to the restaurant, but also the environment of the people who work there.
